You may be wondering why some children and even adults seem unusual when it comes to socially interacting. A case of high functioning autism may shed light into this confusion. It is considered an abnormality in the brain that results to certain symptoms that do not necessarily interfere with daily living but seem unusual to others.

The case seems to be similar with Asperger's syndrome, an ASD that also results to the person's inability to relate with others. The living conditions of the person are not affected since they all have average or even above average intelligence levels. Nevertheless, there are certain symptoms congruent to autism itself.

Autistic children are characterized by physical clumsiness. This is due to the delays in their motor skills. Despite their being clumsy in doing certain tasks though, they just normally manage to thrive within the society. They can even go find a job and feed their own families with no problems.

The weakness of people with Asperger's or HFA is their inability to follow through certain conversations. They may look like they cannot appreciate humor or are unable to express humors in ways similar to others. They may even tend to talk about certain topics of interest only. Aspergers social skills make relating with others not that easy.

Certain stimuli such as flickering lights, noise and smells may also cause anxiety and strong reactions to the people affected. Certain evidences and studies suggest though that the condition itself is brought about by various interweaving factors. It may involved the environment, current medical status of the person and heredity.

Symptoms you should be looking out for in suspected children or individuals include poor eye contact, inability to understand the feelings of others, repetitive use of certain phrases, and playing only with one toy. Fortunately, there are many treatments that can be availed for social skills autism. Exploring one's options can help in achieving positive outcomes in the end.

If psychological testing done reflects the disorder, applied behavioral analysis can be done. This technique is characterized by the act of giving rewards to people with appropriate behaviors. Another approach would have to be TEACCH. This is a structured manner of teaching affected individuals with the necessary coping skills.

Make sure you get therapies for high functioning autism from a reliable facility. The facility should have excellent and experienced therapists. Get to know how long have your prospects been offering their services in the industry too. Obtain quotes and compare their rates to narrow your selection down on the most reasonable offers.
